Written following a message on John 4:34 preached by Pastor Larry Vincent at Heritage Baptist Church, Mansfield, Texas on October 18, 1998. Christ delighted in serving the Father and doing His will. He used the occasion of resting at a well to bring the Gospel to a Samaritan woman. In his sermon Pastor Vincent exhorted us to use every occasion as an opportunity to make known the riches of God’s grace in the Gospel. We see an example of this in the life of Paul. In Philippians 2:17 and 2 Timothy 4:6 Paul described his life as a drink offering being poured out as an expression of joy to God for Christ. Because of Christ, we can count all things in this life as loss that we might know Him and live in Him (Philippians 3:7–11).

The Lord is my delight!

To the know the joy of life in Christ
By taking up my cross.

I long to be like Christ,
His will my meat and drink,
Delighting in obedience

Is an occasion to make known
