The Lord Is My Delight

Come to Me, you weary; Come to Me and find rest. Take My Yoke upon you; Come and know peace and gentleness. For why do you still labor, Weighed down with pain and guilt and care, Oppressed and crushed down under A load you cannot bear? Come seek the Lord, you afflicted; Seek Him while He may be found. Today is the day of salvation, When grace and mercy have come down. Come to Me, you thirsty; Come to Me and drink. Though you have no money; Come and buy and eat. For why do you spend money For that which is not bread And squander all your wages On empty things instead? Come seek the Lord, you hungry; In Him is fullness of delight; Abundance overflowing To immeasurable depth and height. Come to Me, you wayward; Lost in the darkness and the strife. My Word will guide your footsteps, For I am the way, the truth, the life. For why do you still wander Down pathways that lead to sin and death, Forsaking the One who made you, Who gives you each day your life and breath? Come seek the Lord, you wanderer, Seeking to satisfy your soul. In Him is joy beyond all measure, For He alone can make you whole. And come seek the Lord, you hungry; In Him is fullness of delight; Abundance overflowing To immeasurable depth and height. Yes, come seek the Lord, you afflicted; Seek Him while He may be found. Today is the day of salvation, When grace and mercy have come down. Come to Me, you weary; Come to Me and find rest.

Christ our greatest treasure, He our highest aim! Christ our deepest comfort, Him we now acclaim! By His death, He saved us, By His life, we live. To the King of glory, All our lives we give . Pressing on, we journey, Christ we now confess, Seeking first His kingdom And His righteousness. Rescued from destruction, Told to seek the light; Pulled up from the mire, Fitted for the fight. Christ, in every instance Guides us in the Way, Graciously providing Mercies every day. Pressing on, we journey, Pilgrims we progress, Seeking first His kingdom And His righteousness. Fret not for tomorrow, Fear not past regrets. He heals every sorrow, Sure the course He sets. All these things are added, What to eat and wear; All our needs provided, By His loving care. Pressing on, we journey, Joys we now possess, Seeking first His kingdom And His righteousness. We long for that day when We'll see face to face Christ, the King of Glory, Full of truth and grace. But until that moment, Finally He descends, We will ever seek Him, Faithful to the end. Pressing on, we journey, Hope we now express, Seeking first His kingdom And His righteousness.

What can be gained by all our toil, Where's hope amidst such pain? The sin that fills our fallen world Makes all our efforts vain. Apart from God there is no hope, No purpose for this life. The fruit of all our plans and ploys Yields not but endless strife. Without God's grace our thoughts and toils Are grasping for the wind. We need the wisdom of God's Word That we might know our end. What must we then conclude and know When wisdom has been heard? That God has spoken and will judge: Fear Him and keep His Word! The fear of God will make us wise, His Word shows us the way. It beckons us to come to Christ, Its call we must obey For on that day when God will judge, All secret things made known. The only refuge from God's wrath Will be in Christ alone.

The Lord is my delight! To serve my Sov'reign King; My life poured out to do His will, A joyful offering! As I arise this day, May I count all things loss, To the know the joy of life in Christ By taking up my cross. I long to be like Christ, His will my meat and drink, Delighting in obedience In all I do and think. This day the Lord has giv'n Belongs to Him, not me, To be lived out in faith and love, And not spent selfishly. Each person that I meet, Each circumstance I face, Is an occasion to make known The riches of His grace. My joy is in the Lord, To serve Him all my days; My life poured out for all to see, A sacrifice of praise.

Vast the riches of God's Word, Truth that shines as purest gold. Search its treasures, venture deep, All its splendor to behold! Grant us hearts that love the Word, Open ears that we might hear, Help Your servant, Lord, we pray, Make the message plain and clear. Keep our thoughts from wandering As Your Word is preached today, Anchor us in truth applied That we might not fall or stray. Preach the Word, we need to hear! Draw out wealth as from a mine. Show each gem that we might see Truth in all its facets shine. Take us to each verse and line, Open up the Word and show All the riches we can find; Help us more of Christ to know. May God's Word in brilliance shine Light on all we do and say. May it be our great delight To receive it and obey.

My soul, what truth consoles you? For hope, where can you run? For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, And everyone believing, Though wrecked by sin and strife, In Him can never perish, But have eternal life. My soul, when life confounds you, Look up to Christ above! The floods of fear can't reach to The heights of His great love. If clouds around me darken, I know I will endure, For I have life eternal; In Christ I rest secure. So come, my soul, and worship, Give praise to God and sing! There is no firmer promise To which you now can cling. Through every storm and trial, My soul He'll safely keep. Within the love of Jesus, My soul is anchored deep.

Increase our faith, O Lord! We look to You today. Remind us of Your Word and pow'r, Come stir our hearts to pray. Look down on us in love, Draw near us in this place. With confidence, we come in Christ To seek the throne of grace. Because we do not ask, We often lack what's good. If we would only look to God And trust Him as we should! Our faith, it seems so small, Yet You, Lord, are so great! So help us bring petitions large, In You we trust and wait. If we but had the faith, Small as a mustard seed, Then we would see the mountains move For God has power indeed. There's nothing that's too hard, No good thing He'll withhold. So let us bring our prayers in faith, We cannot be too bold. Look down with mercy, Lord And hear the prayers we raise, That we might see Your power displayed And offer thanks and praise.

Behold, my soul, what God has wrought When by His grace my heart He sought, When in His love and sovereign plan He chose to save a wretched man. When God made heav'n and earth below He simply spoke and it was so, But when He sought my soul to save E'en Christ, His only Son, He gave. Before God spoke and it was light, Before men fell in sin's dark night, The Lord set forth redemption's plan That grace might find this wretched man. That God would choose for Christ a wife, And Christ would die to save her life; The Spirit then would call the bride And draw her to her Master's side. Christ left the glories of heav'n above And took the form of those He loved. He shared our suff'ring and our strife And lived a holy, perfect life. He found us dead and vile within, Rebels to God, condemned for sin, Destined for wrath and hell's torment, Yet blinded and in sin content. Yet in our sin, Christ loved us still And bore the cross on Cal'vry's hill. He took the judgment we had earned And died as God's fierce wrath did burn. Our debt was great, none would suffice Except a perfect sacrifice, And as the cross drew forth His blood, An off'ring rose before our God. His death has full atonement made! The debt we owed in full is paid! He purchased us with His own blood; Such love! Behold the Lamb of God! When death and sin defeated fell, He trampled down the gates of hell And rose victorious o'er the grave To live for those He came to save. He then ascended to the throne, Now interceding for His own, And for our comfort, help, and cheer; He sent His Holy Spirit near, To open hearts, convict of sin, To lead to Christ and dwell within, To daily bring supplies of grace And hold us fast to Christ's embrace. When by His grace my heart He sought, Behold, my soul, what God has wrought! The measures to fulfill His plan! The cost to save a wretched man! He now prepares for me a place And soon I'll see Him face to face, And wonder through eternity, How great His mercy shown to me!

Eternal God exalted Above both time and space; You hold my life completely, A trophy of Your grace. Both time and space a canvas, You craft all history To show Your grace and power Through eternity. You planned before creation My birth and life and death; In mercy and in kindness You give me every breath. You're everywhere in fullness, Wherever I may go; And all my days and moments All at once You know. Each day Your Word sustains me, Your Spirit guides and leads; You never will forsake me, Your grace is all I need. For time is but a teacher, A patient means of grace That I might learn to trust You, Ever seek Your face. I need not fear the future For You're already there; And in the past You've brought me Through every trial and care. In every present moment You faithfully are near; So help me now to trust You, Cast away all fear.

I cannot be poor if I am in Christ, In Him I am full and abound. Though everything else should all pass away, I'm rich if in Him I am found. It is enough that I am in Christ, Enough that His mercy I see. It is enough that I taste of His grace, Enough that His love has found me. Pursue not this world, its wisdom and ways; Contentment eludes those who try. For all in this world is fading away, And soon will all wither and die. It is enough that I am in Christ, Enough that His mercy I see. It is enough that I taste of His grace, Enough that His love has found me. What profits a man if he gains the world, Yet loses his soul in the end? And what will the joys of this life be worth, If you face the judgment condemned? It is enough that I am in Christ, Enough that His mercy I see. It is enough that I taste of His grace, Enough that His love has found me. If I am in Christ, I have all I need, Adopted and loved as a son. It will be enough that I see my Lord, And hear Him say to me: "Well done." It is enough that I am in Christ, Enough that His mercy I see. It is enough that I taste of His grace, Enough that His love has found me.
